cPanel Tailwatchd failed: A restart was attempted automagically

You will get alerts like,

tailwatchd failed @  Nov 25 00:33:10 2013.A restart was attempted automagically

Service Check Method: [check command] tailwatchd is not running

To check tailwatch logs use the following command,

tail -f /usr/local/cpanel/logs/tailwatchd_log

Now restart cPanel, the tailwatchd will also restart with that.

service cpanel restart

To see the services handle by tailwatched

/usr/local/cpanel/libexec/tailwatchd –status

tailwatchd is enabled

 Running, PID 28379
 Driver (Active: 1) Cpanel::TailWatch::ChkServd
 Driver (Active: 1) Cpanel::TailWatch::Eximstats
 Driver (Active: 1) Cpanel::TailWatch::cPBandwd
 Driver (Active: 1) Cpanel::TailWatch::Antirelayd

Then see the logs one more after the restart using,

tail -f /usr/local/cpanel/logs/tailwatchd_log

If you are still seeing the failed logs, then you need to update cPanel. For updating cPanel use the command below,

/scripts/upcp –force
